Here is a recap of the second round of Friday’s first day of the MN State Wrestling Tournament.
In the quarterfinals, both Gadient’s and Blattner’s opponents lost. Because they lost their first round to them, they were knocked out of the tournament. Still, these two gave great effort and finish as state entrants in 2013 to cap a very successful season.
Kyle Drehmel won an exciting match 6-5 to advance to the State semifinals! Kyle scored a couple takedowns and defended his opponent’s granby series for the win.
Ryan Tipcke lost in a battle to the #2 ranked wrestler from UNC by a score of 4-2. Ryan gave him all he wanted though.
But in his wrestle back, Ryan came out swinging against a his Sibley East opponent. Ryan put up 5 points to 0 to stay alive and wrestle in Day 2!
We were the last match of night. The Xcel was pretty quiet when we left at 11:15 p.
