The first week of competition is in the books for the 2014-2015 Goodhue Wrestling season. The team opened up with numerous exciting JV matches this past Thursday night. Parents and our 4 seniors were honored before the Varsity competed against Byron, falling 48-28.

Saturday the team traveled to the Winona Invite. While K-M led the charge, the Goodhue Wildcats finished with the best showing to date at the tournament as Team Runner-ups. Goodhue had 6 in the finals, with 2 emerging as champions. Taking first were Joel Gadient at 126 pounds and Kelby O’Reilly at 138 pounds. Bailee O’Reilly fell to 2x State Champ from K-M Brady Berge in the finals, and others coming up in second place were Mason Huemann, Kaleb O’Reilly, and Jordan Ronningen. Other placers included Logan Breuer and Charles Dahling in 5th place, and Ryan Schoenfelder picked up his first varsity wins to finish in 6th place.

The team travels to #3 ranked Kasson-Mantorville Friday night (4:15 bus departure), and then Goodhue hosts a 10 team Junior High/Junior Varsity tournament on Saturday.
